Motorization brings not only great changes to urban transportation system, but also has profound influences to our urban living styles, structures and spaces. At present, China has gone into the era of rapid development of Motorization. Whenever vehicles provide people with convenience, it is inevitable to arouse a lot of problems such as traffic congestion, emission of exhaust gas and traffic accidents. In the society of Motorization, will our society be the arena of wonderful life? Facing these challenges, how can we deal with them by urban planning and urban transportation planning? In order to study these coordinated developments of urban transportation and land use, Fudan Research Centre of Urban Planning & Development, together with INRO (Canada), Wu & Song Associates (W & S office in Shanghai) and Shanghai Urban Planning & Design Research Institute will hold “The Conference on Future-Oriented Transportation and Urban Development” in Fudan University on August 9-10, 2010 (from Monday to Tuesday) in Shanghai.
